 abstract={One linguistic features that characterises the Northwestern region of Argentina is the incorporation of evidential values in the forms of present perfect. It is suggested that these local features are being replaced by the prestigious variant. We believe that the pressure from Buenos Aires changes the northern usages: Young people will use mostly the past simple, which, in the Buenos Aires norm, encodes any past event; on the contrary, older people will keep the evidential perfect tenses.},
